        "In 1995 the Slovene government assigned [[National Museum of Slovenia - Metelkova|the building Metelkova]] in the complex of the former military barracks to the [[National Museum of Slovenia]]. Plans for the future display and storage areas were drawn up in 2000. Construction began in July 2004 and was finished in 2008 when it was officially opened with the exhibition ''[[Primož Trubar]] 1508–1586''  on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the birth of the author of the first Slovene book, published in 1550. The venue enables the museum curators to develop attractive thematic exhibitions."
